Slip and fall accidents are the leading cause of injury for those under the age of 5 and those over the age of 65. A permanent slip resistant bath mat can make your home safer.
Used in hospitals and hotels nationwide, safety bathmats look elegant, yet provide much needed traction for wet feet. The mat cleans easily with standard household cleaners. Slip Resistant Bath Mats are manufactured from a unique type of vinyl, and are both comfortable to the skin and pleasing to the eye.
These elegant mats come in white in two standard sizes 16″x 34″ and 16″ x 40″ with a drain cutout. They can also be trimmed for a custom size. They also come in Clear and Sandstone (darker than Almond) in 16′”x 34″. Clear mats look great on Almond or colored tubs. Most homeowners find 16″ x 34″ meets their needs. Hotels usually prefer the longer mat to prevent lawsuits.
Suction cup bath mats turn slimy and cause odor unless taken out of the tub after each use. Throw them out and install a permanent easy clean bath mat. While your at it install one for your parents or grandchildren. Those peel and stick on frogs look cute for the kids and do provide some protection, but they will grow out of them.
The average homeowner can install one of these mats in just a short time. If properly install the mats wont peel or curl and will last for years. Mats should be applied to a smooth surface, not a textured bottom. First, thoroughly clean the bottom of the tub with a quality cleaner such as 409, and a Scotchbrite pad. Next wipe with rubbing alcohol or acetone. Let dry. (if you don’t have alcohol or acetone let dry an hour) Now peel back the paper from the adhesive about two inches. Starting at one end, press the mat onto the tub while slowly peeling back the rest of the paper. Now roll the mat flat with a rolling pin or laminate roller. Start in the middle and roll to the edges, making sure all air bubbles escape. That’s it. The tub can be used immediately. Instructions are included.
